Every year, as the 24 Hours of Rollerblading approaches, hundreds of groups form: clubs, groups of friends, colleagues, families, paddock neighbors… All with the same idea: to live together a unique adventure for 24 hours .
Because while you can participate alone, the essence of the event remains deeply collective. Forming a team isn't just about registering for a race. It's about creating a shared project , a story to experience and share.
But what ultimately motivates so many skaters to form a team?

To experience a collective adventure
The first reason is simple: you don't experience the 24-hour rollerblading race alone .
Forming a team means sharing much more than just relays on the circuit. It means preparing for the event together, choosing a team name, imagining a costume, organizing the paddock, and motivating each other during training.
During the race, everyone has their role: the one who rides, the one who encourages, the one who manages the supplies, the one who revives the atmosphere at 3 a.m.
And this is often what emerges from the testimonies of the participants: the strongest memory is not the number of kilometers, but the moments shared .
Going beyond one's limits... for others
When you ride for yourself, fatigue can sometimes take over. But when you ride for your team , the motivation is different.
We think of our teammates waiting for the relay. We tell ourselves we can do one more lap. We grit our teeth on the climb.
The challenge becomes a collective one.
In many accounts, participants describe that special moment when the team meets in the early morning, tired but united, with a single idea: to go all the way together .

Create memories that last
The 24-hour roller skating race is not just a sporting event. It's also a great celebration of roller skating .
In the paddocks, you see teams in fancy dress, groups cooking together, and supporters cheering on every passing.
As the hours pass, strangers become neighbors, then friends.
Some even say that encounters made during the event have marked their lives: lasting friendships, teams that return every year, or even love stories born at the edge of the circuit.
Giving your team an identity
Creating a team also means inventing an identity .
Original name, common colours, personalized jerseys, unlikely mascot or costume theme… each team brings its own touch to the event.
And it is often this creativity that contributes to the unique atmosphere of the 24h Rollers.
Some teams come for performance, others for the personal challenge, and still others simply for the pleasure of experiencing a timeless moment .
Sharing a challenge accessible to all
One of the strengths of the 24h Rollers is that everyone can participate : beginners, occasional skaters, competitors, young or old.
In a team, everyone finds their place. Relays allow for adjusting the effort and building a strategy adapted to each person's level.
This is what makes the experience so special: the challenge becomes accessible and collective .

Becoming a "finisher"... together
After 24 hours, as the finish line approaches, one thing becomes clear: this moment would not have the same flavor without the team.
We think back to the night relays, the encouragement, the moments of doubt and the bursts of laughter in the paddock.
And when the whole team comes together to celebrate the challenge accomplished, one certainty emerges:
The 24-hour rollerblading race is not just a race. It's a human adventure.
